Do you know that before God will accept anything from you. The first thing He does is to accept you as a person. That was why He rejected Cain's gift but He accepted Abel's sacrifice.
Your appearance before God does not count if the heart you bring before Him is far from the truth. That was why God rejected King David elder brothers but He accepted David that last born.
Your high profile, profession,wealth or your spiritual activities are not the yardstick to make God accept you. Remember how God was attracted to Samuel and rejected Eli the prophet. Your service can never attract God as long as you are not attracted to Him.
But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
1 Samuel:16:7.
Many scholars had told us that Cain brought rotten yam as sacrifice before God. Oh no! Did God eat yam? Is he a goat? That's far from the biblical and spiritual meaning of Genesis 4:3-5
And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
Genesis:4:3-5..
The first thing that God is searching for in any man that will make Him to be attracted to such person is HUMBLENESS..
God will never and can never be attracted to any person who THINK HIGHLY OF HIMSELF.
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.James:4:6..
Are you a humble person? Hmm...what is your class or level that makes you look down on people? Would people have to chase you up and down before you help them or before you assist God's work?
Do you serve God in total humility or you serve Him because you think you are qualified?
Are you sure YOU ARE ACCEPTED BY GOD? Ask yourself.
Pray this prayer.
Lord Jesus, teach me how to be humble and help me to do that which is right in your sight as from now on. Amen.
